The techniques used

Natural Dyeing
An ancestral technique. A colour is created from one or more natural materials, transformed into a living pigment.
The prepared natural fibre is then immersed in the dye bath, simmering
gently for about an hour, allowing the hue to slowly settle and bloom.

Botanical Printing
A technique developed by the artist India Flint in the 1990s.
It captures the plant's own pigment, imprinting it with remarkable clarity.
On the prepared fibre, the plants are carefully arranged, then rolled and placed in steam for 30 minutes to 1 hour, allowing their colours and shapes to gently transfer and reveal themselves.

Natural Watercolours
Organic and/or inorganic pigments are extracted through different processes.Once dried, they are finely ground and blended with a natural binder, giving life to colours that flow gently across the page.

Are all pigments good?
There is a common myth that natural dyeing "doesn't work".
This usually happens when the characteristics of each pigment are overlooked.
In my practice, I never use fugitive colours — only solid (steadfast) ones.
Solid colours are hues that remain resilient, showing minimal variation
when exposed to external factors such as sunlight, pH changes, or
oxidation from air or water.
Colours that stay, colours that endure.
Where can pigments be found?
On a simple walk through the forest, across a wild field, or along the shore.
Pigments exist in all living beings and in geological formations.
You can find them in plants — in every one of their parts — in animals
such as cochineal insects, in mushrooms and lichens, in algae, and in
rocks and minerals.
Colour is everywhere, waiting to be discovered.
